Compendia Goes Green
National Homeowner Documentation Leader Releases Specialized Maintenance Guide for "Green" Homes

February 28, 2008 (SAN DIEGO, CA) – One of the more significant trends in recent years to affect the building industry is the shift towards more environmentally-responsible building practices. “Going green” initiatives have moved from a niche market to the mainstream. To meet that demand, Compendia, formerly Master Manuals, announced the availability of its Green Homeowner Guide—the homeowner maintenance documentation that meets the requirements of the top green certification organizations in the country.

“The momentum towards green building, fueled by consumer demand and government requirements, is quickly changing the landscape of building,” said Compendia CEO Steve Fabry, “Compendia has moved to fill the documentation gap with a solution that allows builders to educate their customers on green best practices while promoting long-term customer satisfaction through risk reduction.”

The new Green Homeowner Guide, available to builders as of the first week in April, is significantly more than Compendia’s industry-leading maintenance content delivered electronically or on recycled paper. “We have enhanced our core content to ensure it complies with the educational and O&M requirements of the major certification entities such as LEED, NAHB, GreenPoint and BuiltGreen,” Fabry added.

The guides, which use Compendia’s proven industry-recognized maintenance content as its base, adds essential “green living” components in each guide such as green cleaning products and methods, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, eco-friendly landscaping, green furnishing selection, renewable energy systems, greywater irrigation systems, manufactured product warranties and several other green-specific topics.

According to the US Green Building Council (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Rating System(LEED) and the recently released NAHB Green Building program, green certification requires specialized documentation that includes both an educational component for the homeowner and the manufacturer’s operations and maintenance information.

"Content matters," Fabry emphasized, “Compendia spent ten years developing maintenance content, working with builders and perfecting the process of homeowner documentation. Our green content, developed in partnership with LEED-accredited specialists and green building experts, is the next step in that evolution."

The new green content, which can also be delivered through Compendia’s new online homeowner portal Home Experience, will be available for distribution by April 1st. Compendia is the only company servicng the building industry to provide a suite of solutions that focuses on content and the smart information transference of that content in multi-media formats.
