Experience the Experience
Compendia Launches Groundbreaking Home Experience

Compendia, announced
Home Experience
,
an online portal that provides homeowners with all the information they need to better care for their home – from home maintenance and manufactured product warranty information to Homeowner’s Association documents. Home Experience is available immediately for builders as a value-added service designed to increase customer satisfaction while reducing costs.

Home Experience employs both an easy-to-use Web interface and secure online tools to allow homeowners to locate and leverage information about their home, their community, and their builder over the Internet. The solution lets builders create a more relevant, personalized and compelling after-sale customer experience – resulting in fewer service calls, greater customer loyalty, and reduced operating costs.

Going Green: Unveiling the Green Homeowner Guide

One of the more significant trends in recent years to affect the building industry is the shift towards more environmentally-responsible building practices. “Going green” initiatives have moved from a niche market to the mainstream. To meet that demand, Compendia,is announcing the availability of its Green Homeowner Guide—the homeowner maintenance documentation that meets the requirements of the top green certification organizations in the country (USGBC, NAHB). The guides will be available the first week of April.

“The momentum towards green building, fueled by consumer demand and government requirements, is quickly changing the landscape of building ,” said Compendia CEO Steve Fabry, “Compendia has moved to fill the documentation gap with a solution that allows builders to educate their customers on green best practices, and promotes long-term customer satisfaction through risk reduction.”

The guides, which use Compendia’s proven industry-leading maintenance content as its base, adds essential “green living” components in each guide such as green cleaning products and methods, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, eco-friendly landscaping, green furnishings selection, renewable energy systems, greywater irrigation systems, manufactured product warranties and several other green-specific topics.

Tip: Include Maintenance in your HOA budget

Just like windows or insurance or any other infrastructure line item, builders should ensure their document management plan needs are represented in a project's budget. It is less than ideal to wait until after ground has been broken to retrofit these necessary plans into an already tight budget.

Many builders transfer some of these duties (like HOA maintenance and warranty manuals) to a property management firm, but as many will attest, often times once the community has transferred control to the HOA board, these companies are fired. The problem is that each management company uses their own process which invites vulnerabilities and inconsistencies in the ongoing maintenance. As builders are still liable for the community for the next ten-pus years, it is safer for the builder to provide the maintenance and warranty structure for any property management firm to follow. This not only creates more predictability in budgeting, but gives the builder better visibility into the ongoing needs of the community.

Manufactured Product Guide goes All-Digital

In response to customer demand, beginning April 1, 2008, we are excited to provide the “Compendia Warranty Guide on CD” at no extra charge to our customers. As part of our standard offering, we will deliver the Manufactured Products information on CD. The homeowner maintenance and other sections of the current solution will remain in print.

These discs contain everything the printed MP version had…and more. Each disc has an efficient search and organization function, so finding the right document is easier and faster. They are branded to both the community and the builder.

"Every time a homeowner uses the disk they will be reminded of your commitment to post-sale customer satisfaction," said Director of Production AJ Cataline "And they promote a builder's “green” initiatives. We estimate this change will conserve over 346 trees per year."
